Museum Access

Both the New Children's Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Art (La Jolla & Downtown) have rosters. Any student in this class will have free access to these museums throughout the semester.

Art 110: Assignments Weeks 2 & 3

(all work is due on the date Ander which it is listed)



Tuesday 8/24:
Photo with personal information
Objects for assemblage and 3 project ideas (drawing and/or text)

In-class:
Visual elements vocabulary
Chipboard demo


Thursday 8/26:
Hand in a _ actual scale maquette made from chip board and a drawing of your project’s negative space. 
1. Determine the overall height length and width of your final sculpture.  Your maquette will be reduced to 1/4th the actual size of your piece. 
2. Imagine your sculpture. move around it in your mind’s eye. simplify its forms into basic shapes.  Sketch those shapes together in your sketchbook.
3.  Use the chip board to describe them in a fully stable and transportable object. If you run out of chipboard, you may also use cereal boxes, heavy posterboard, or cardboard/

In-class:
Continue with the visual elements and design principles


Tuesday 8/31:

Bring in your sculpture (your sculpture should be 75% done) and a list of questions you have, including questions about techniques, materials, concepts, etc.

In-class: Vocabulary quiz based on hand-out. Group critiques and work time.





Thursday 9/2:
Lab day


Tuesday 9/7:
Assemblage sculpture.  You will have the first 10 minutes of class to install your sculpture  in the site you have chosen, if you need more time come early, I will open the studio an hour before class.
